START THE PUMP NOW
If the weir setting is correct, water should be falling over the weirs into the pool skimmer. Your Dragonfly should be gently rising and falling at the surface of the water. The valve that you can see inside should be opening and closing to a greater or lesser degree. If the Dragonfly Super Skimmer is not doing
this, check the troubleshooting list below and you will soon have the situation under control.
Installation of the Dragonfly Super Skimmer Deluxe kit to work alongside a conventional suction pool vac
To achieve this you will require a Delux Kit with the following items
1 x Dragonfly Super Skimmer
2 x Hoses
1 x 3 way splitter
1 x Hayward Large capacity Leaf Canister
1. If the old pool vac is still connected disconnect it from the vacuum plate above the leaf basket.
2. Plug the elbow on splitter assembly into the vacuum plate. When looked at from the pool, you should see two hoses protruding from a three-way valve. One directly into the pool, facing away from the static skimmer and one at right angles to it parallel to the pool wall.
3. Connect the Dragonfly to the hose that faces directly into the pool.
4. Connect one section of hose onto the other outlet.
5. Connect the end of the hose to the outlet side of the leaf basket.
6. Connect as many sections of hose as you like to the other side of the leaf canister.
7. Plug the section of hose with the cuff on it firmly into the outlet of the Dragonfly Super Skimmer.
At this stage both pool cleaners should be connected to the vacuum plate via the splitter.
It is now possible to control the amount of water that is being taken by the pool skimmer or the pool vac.
It is our experience that if you set the control valve so that the pool vac works at about one third it's normal speed you will get the best results.
To do this, simply turn the tap handle on the flow control valve to suit your requirements.
As more water is drawn from the Dragonfly using the valve the pool vac slows down or vice versa. However the suction from your pool pump will decide what the best balance is.
If the Dragonfly Super Skimmer sits in the water with the filtration equipment running but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.
The reasons for this could be:
If the valve remains open - raise the floats a bit at a time until the weirs have reached maximum depth. In the unlikely event that this does not start the valve opening and closing, you will need a water bypass, these are available at most pool shops.
Should you have trouble getting a hold of one, please contact us.
If you cannot get enough float adjustment to get the flapper valve to start opening and closing
-
Check that the filters are clean and that there is no blockage in the filtration system, problems such as a dirty filter, blockage, or broken hoses. These reduce the flow of water through the skimmer.
The Dragonfly Super Skimmer is designed to operate under a wide variety of pool conditions. If you cannot get enough suction to enable necessary adjustment on the Dragonfly Super Skimmer you may have to contact you pool professional as the filtration equipment may need to be repaired or upgraded.
After having given satisfactory performance the following can cause changes in the performance of the Dragonfly Super Skimmer.
A dirty filter, a blocked leaf basket or hair filter can slow, and in
extreme situations, stop the Dragonfly Super Skimmer.
One or more of the floats was not fastened properly, bringing about
a change in the original setting.
A hose is split or damaged in some way and as a result suction
at the Dragonfly end is too low.
Debris of some description is interfering with the flapper valve.
If the Dragonfly Super Skimmer is held in place with cord make sure
that the cord does not exert pressure either up or down on the unit
when its in operation. This can affect the equilibrium of the skimmer's
motion and cause it to settle and stop oscillating.

The installation of a Dragonfly Automatic Floating Swimming Pool Cleaner to a standard vacuum plate
Firmly attach the cuff end of the hose to the bottom of the pool skimmer. Place the Dragonfly Super Skimmer into the pool. The elbow end of the hose fits into the vacuum plate. Use however many lengths of hose are required between the first hose and the last.
Note The Dragonfly pool cleaner may be left to float free in the
pool, however we have found that in many cases it is advantageous to tether it in the part of the pool where the wind and currents tend to take most of the debris.
DO NOT START THE PUMP YET
In most cases the Dragonfly Super Skimmer will start to work without having to make any adjustment. With the Dragonfly Super Skimmer floating in the water, the weir should be between 5 and 10 mm below the surface of the water. If this is not the case, loosen the stainless steel bolts that hold the floats in position with a 13mm or 1/2"
spanner and slide the floats up or down on the body as required.
Before starting with the installation of the Dragonfly Super Skimmer, make sure that the leaf basket, hair filter, and main filter of your swimming pool are clean so that the system is running at maximum capacity. By doing this you ensure the proper adjustment is made leading to maximum reliability in the continued operation of your new pool cleaner. Make sure that the hoses to be used are in good condition and are properly connected to each other and the vacuum plate. Ensure that the vacuum plate itself is
properly seated. This will allow you to make the most the most effective setting.
Step 1
The box contains one hose with a tapered cuff on one end and another with a 90 degree elbow on it. The hose with the tapered cuff on it is the one that plugs into the Pool Cleaner. If you find that you only need one length of hose to meet your requirements simply pull the
elbow out of the other hose and fasten it onto the other end of the hose with the tapered cuff on it.
